MSI Introduces MAG X870E Tomahawk Max WiFi PZ Motherboard with Wi-Fi 7 and PCIe 5.0 Support

MSI has officially added a new model to its MAG series lineup with the launch of the MAG X870E Tomahawk Max WiFi PZ motherboard. The company listed the new product on its official website, revealing full details and specifications. Designed for AMD’s latest Ryzen 9000 processors, this motherboard focuses on durability, connectivity, and improved overclocking capabilities.

The MAG X870E Tomahawk Max WiFi PZ adopts a clean silver-gray design and follows a rear-mounted ATX layout. It integrates MSI’s OC Engine external clock generator, giving users the ability to fine-tune frequency adjustments for better performance during overclocking. Built on an 8-layer, 2oz copper server-grade PCB, it uses a 14+2+1 power phase setup with 80A SPS DrMOS, ensuring stable power delivery for high-performance CPUs. The board also includes dual 8-pin EPS CPU connectors, quick-release PCIe slots for easy GPU installation, a 7W/m·K thermal pad for VRM cooling, and a centralized EZ Debug LED to assist with hardware diagnostics.

In terms of expansion, the motherboard provides three full-length PCIe slots and four M.2 slots. One of the M.2 slots supports PCIe 5.0×4 (processor direct), offering faster storage bandwidth for high-speed NVMe drives. Another PCIe 5.0×4 slot shares a channel with the rear USB4 interface, while two additional PCIe 4.0×4 M.2 slots come from the chipset. Four SATA III 6Gbps ports are also included for traditional storage options.

The MAG X870E Tomahawk Max WiFi PZ supports four DDR5 non-ECC UDIMM memory modules with speeds reaching up to 8400MT/s when paired with AMD Ryzen 9000 series CPUs. Networking features include a Realtek RTL8126 controller delivering 5GbE wired connectivity and Wi-Fi 7 (320MHz) wireless support with Bluetooth 5.4. This combination provides high data throughput for both wired and wireless setups.

Audio is handled by the Realtek ALC4080 codec, which supports clear output for gaming, entertainment, and voice communication. The rear I/O panel includes an HDMI 2.1 FRL port, dual USB4 40Gbps ports with DisplayPort 1.4 Alt Mode, two USB-A 10Gbps ports, three USB-A 5Gbps ports, and multiple USB 2.0 connections. It also features a USB-C 10Gbps port, a 5GbE RJ45 LAN port, Wi-Fi antenna connectors, optical S/PDIF-out, and two standard audio jacks.

Internal USB headers provide additional options, including USB 2.0, USB-A 5Gbps, and USB-C 20Gbps support for front panel connections. These allow flexibility for modern PC cases equipped with Type-C front I/O.

With the MAG X870E Tomahawk Max WiFi PZ, MSI aims to deliver a balanced solution for enthusiasts who need strong overclocking capability, advanced networking options, and reliable build quality. The inclusion of PCIe 5.0, Wi-Fi 7, and high-speed DDR5 memory support positions this motherboard as a versatile option for next-generation AMD systems.
