MediaTek Unveils Dimensity 9500 Platform for Next-Generation Flagship Smartphones

MediaTek has announced the Dimensity 9500, its newest mobile platform aimed at powering the next generation of flagship 5G smartphones. The chipset brings advancements in CPU and GPU performance, AI acceleration, imaging technology, and connectivity features, while focusing on improved power efficiency.

The Dimensity 9500 introduces a third-generation “All Big Core” CPU design. It combines a 4.21GHz ultra core, three premium cores, and four performance cores. This structure enables up to 32 percent higher single-core performance and 17 percent higher multi-core performance compared to the previous generation. The ultra core is also designed to reduce peak power consumption by as much as 55 percent, extending battery life during demanding workloads.

To support faster data handling, the platform integrates the industry’s first 4-channel UFS 4.1 storage system. This doubles read and write speeds and boosts large AI model loading by 40 percent. The second-generation Dimensity Scheduling Engine translates these improvements into smoother system responsiveness and better task management under heavy use.

On the graphics side, the Arm G1-Ultra GPU brings a 33 percent peak performance increase and 42 percent better efficiency. The platform supports high frame rate interpolation and real-time ray tracing at up to 120 FPS. With compatibility for features in Unreal Engine 5.5 and 5.6, developers gain access to more advanced rendering options and lighting effects, bringing console-level visuals to mobile devices.

The Dimensity 9500 also expands MediaTek’s AI capabilities with the ninth-generation NPU 990 and Generative AI Engine 2.0. The system doubles computing power, introduces BitNet large model processing at lower power, and supports faster outputs for natural language models. It also enables 4K image generation and long-text processing while cutting power consumption at peak loads by more than half.

For imaging, the integrated Imagiq 1190 ISP supports up to 200MP photography, RAW-domain pre-processing, 30 FPS continuous focus tracking, and 4K 60 FPS portrait video recording. The updated portrait engine enhances cinematic effects, while MiraVision Adaptive Display technology adjusts brightness, contrast, and color in real time to suit various lighting environments.

Connectivity enhancements include reduced power use in both 5G and Wi-Fi scenarios, 5CC carrier aggregation for up to 15 percent more bandwidth, and improved accuracy in positioning. AI-based network management features help lower latency by predicting congestion and optimizing network selection.

MediaTek emphasized that the Dimensity 9500 reflects its continued collaboration with device makers, game developers, and software partners. Smartphones powered by the new platform are expected to reach the market in the fourth quarter of 2025.
