The current speculation indicates that Samsung may not immediately embrace MediaTek’s forthcoming Dimensity 9400, slated to be mass-produced on TSMC’s second-generation 3nm process, similar to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. Samsung has already inked an agreement with Qualcomm to utilize its next-generation chipsets for the upcoming Galaxy S25 family. However, the dynamics of this arrangement could shift, given the potential advantages MediaTek offers.
With Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 estimated to cost around $200 per System-on-Chip (SoC) and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 rumored to be more expensive than its predecessor, Samsung faces a dilemma in maintaining profit margins.
