Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Arrives on PC with Enhanced Features and Customization Options

January 30, 2025

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Game is set to make its way to PC on January 30, bringing a host of technological enhancements tailored for a wide range of hardware configurations. Originally developed by Insomniac Games in collaboration with Marvel, the PC port is being handled by Nixxes Software, ensuring a seamless transition to the platform while maximizing graphical fidelity and performance.

Advanced Ray Tracing and Visual Enhancements

The PC version of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 includes various ray tracing options, allowing players to fine-tune reflections, shadows, ambient occlusion, and interiors. The game features individual quality settings to optimize performance and visual fidelity. Swinging through the city, players will notice highly detailed reflections on glass surfaces, enhanced shadows for added realism, and increased depth in various environmental elements.

For users with high-performance systems, an increased ray tracing geometry detail setting is available, enabling higher-quality meshes for reflections and improving the overall level of detail. Additionally, a ray tracing object range slider allows users to expand the distance at which objects are included in reflections. NVIDIA DLSS Ray Reconstruction has also been integrated, enhancing ray tracing quality on supported hardware.

Menno Bil, Graphics Programmer at Nixxes, elaborated on this feature, explaining that NVIDIA DLSS Ray Reconstruction combines ray tracing denoising and frame upscaling into a single process. This approach preserves finer details across multiple frames, improving the clarity of reflections, shadows, and interiors while reducing visual artifacts such as ghosting and noise. The game includes two Ray Reconstruction models: the original from DLSS 3.5 and an optimized version for RTX 40-series GPUs and newer hardware, delivering a more stable and visually refined experience.

Ultra-Wide Support and Performance Scaling

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 supports ultra-wide aspect ratios, including 21:9, 32:9, and even 48:9 for triple-monitor setups. The development team has worked to ensure that all in-game cinematics are fully viewable at aspect ratios up to 32:9, maintaining a consistent and immersive experience for players with ultra-wide displays.

To accommodate a broad range of PC configurations, the game supports multiple performance-enhancing technologies, including NVIDIA DLSS 3, AMD FSR 3.1, and Intel XeSS. These options allow players to balance performance and image quality based on their hardware capabilities. For those using older-generation systems, the game includes a variety of graphics presets, dynamic resolution scaling, and non-ray-traced options to maintain smooth gameplay.

Editions, Pre-Purchase Perks, and PlayStation Network Integration

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will launch on PC in two editions: the Standard Edition and the Digital Deluxe Edition (DDE). Players who own the Standard Edition can upgrade to the DDE content at any time. Those who pre-purchase the game will receive early access to additional suits and gadgets, including:

  • Arachknight Suit for Peter Parker (three color variants)
  • Shadow-Spider Suit for Miles Morales (three color variants)
  • Web Grabber gadget early unlock
  • Three additional Skill Points

Additionally, players who connect their game to a PlayStation Network account will gain access to the Spider-Man 2099 Black Suit and the Miles Morales 2099 Suit, along with other in-game benefits such as trophy support and friend management. A PlayStation Network account remains optional for playing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PC.

Collaboration with Marvel Rivals

As part of the game’s launch, Insomniac and Marvel Games are partnering with NetEase Games to introduce Peter Parker’s Advanced Suit 2.0 from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 into Marvel Rivals. Players will be able to purchase and use this suit in Marvel Rivals starting January 29 at 6 PM PST.

Our Verdict

With a variety of graphical improvements, performance scalability, and exclusive content, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 aims to deliver a polished and immersive experience for PC players. Nixxes Software, alongside Insomniac Games, PlayStation, and Marvel Games, has focused on optimizing the title for a diverse range of hardware while ensuring that the game’s visuals and mechanics remain true to the original console release. As the release date approaches, PC players can look forward to stepping into the shoes of both Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they take on formidable foes in Marvel’s New York.
