Lexar has expanded its desktop memory lineup with the introduction of the THOR RGB DDR5 Gen 2 memory modules. The new kit is designed for gamers, PC enthusiasts, and content creators looking for high-speed DDR5 memory while also offering RGB lighting and improved thermal performance. The latest release delivers a memory speed of 7200MT/s with CL38-48-48-86 timings, making it one of the faster options in Lexar’s current DDR5 portfolio.
The new memory modules operate at 1.40V and are built to support modern desktop platforms that can take advantage of high-frequency DDR5 memory. Alongside the performance improvements, Lexar has also updated the cooling solution by equipping the modules with a sandblasted all-aluminum forged heat spreader.
According to Lexar, the heat spreader works together with an integrated thermal conductive silicone (TIM) layer that helps transfer heat away from the memory chips. This design is intended to maintain stable operating temperatures during gaming sessions, heavy multitasking, and other demanding desktop workloads.
The THOR RGB DDR5 Gen 2 memory combines high-speed operation with an upgraded thermal design. High-frequency DDR5 memory often requires efficient cooling to maintain stable performance, especially when running memory-intensive applications or gaming for extended periods.
Lexar’s forged aluminum heat spreader increases the surface area available for heat dissipation, while the built-in thermal conductive silicone improves contact between the memory chips and the heatsink. The modules are rated to operate within a temperature range of 0°C to +85°C, which meets the standard operating range for desktop DDR5 memory.
Besides performance, the THOR RGB DDR5 Gen 2 series also focuses on system aesthetics. The memory modules feature an integrated RGB light bar equipped with eight high-brightness LEDs. Users can choose from 13 built-in RGB lighting modes, allowing the modules to match different gaming PC themes without requiring additional hardware changes. The lighting is integrated into the top section of the memory while maintaining the industrial appearance of the aluminum heat spreader.
