Lexar Expands SSD Lineup with PCIe Gen 4 and Gen 5 Models for Gaming and Professional Use

Lexar has announced the release of two new SSDs aimed at gamers and professionals seeking high-speed storage solutions. The new models—NQ780 and Professional NM1090 PRO—bring PCIe Gen 4.0 and Gen 5.0 support, respectively, offering faster data access and improved system responsiveness across a wide range of computing tasks.

The Lexar Professional NM1090 PRO is the company’s latest flagship drive, built on the PCIe 5.0 interface. It delivers sequential read speeds of up to 14,000 MB/s and write speeds up to 13,000 MB/s, making it one of the fastest consumer-grade SSDs currently available. The drive uses a 6 nm controller designed to help manage thermals efficiently, a consideration that becomes more important as SSD speeds increase. It is equipped with DRAM cache and SLC dynamic cache, both aimed at maintaining consistent performance during heavy workloads or prolonged data transfers.

This model is designed for high-end desktop PCs and workstations and pairs well with platforms using AMD Ryzen or Intel Core i9 processors. The NM1090 PRO is expected to meet the needs of gamers running large open-world titles and professionals working with 4K or 8K video editing, game development, or scientific computing.

Lexar also introduced the NQ780, a PCIe Gen 4.0 NVMe SSD in the M.2 2280 form factor. With read speeds of up to 7,000 MB/s and write speeds of up to 6,000 MB/s, it’s positioned as a versatile upgrade for users seeking faster load times and improved multitasking. The NQ780 features a single-sided design, which helps with heat management and makes it more suitable for laptops and compact desktops.

Another feature of the NQ780 is Intelligent Power Control, which is designed to balance power efficiency and performance. It also ships with Lexar’s DiskMaster SSD management software, allowing users to monitor drive health, check for firmware updates, and manage performance settings.

In terms of availability, the NQ780 is now offered in three capacities:

  • 1 TB at an MSRP of $79.99
  • 2 TB at $149.99
  • 4 TB at $289.99

The Professional NM1090 PRO is available in:

  • 1 TB at $179.99
  • 2 TB at $269.99
  • A 4 TB variant is expected later this summer

With these new releases, Lexar continues to expand its SSD portfolio to cover both mainstream and performance segments, addressing the increasing demand for faster storage in both gaming and content creation environments.
