Keychron P6 Ultra Introduced with Focus on Mod-Friendly Design and High Polling Rate

Keychron has added a new full-size option to its mechanical keyboard lineup with the P6 Ultra. The latest model combines a traditional layout with features aimed at both enthusiasts and general users, including a higher polling rate and easier internal access.

The P6 Ultra’s main feature is its ball-catch closure mechanism, which allows the aluminum case to be opened without tools. This design is gaining traction in the custom keyboard space, where users often modify internal components such as foam layers, stabilizers, and switches. While the tool-free approach makes maintenance simpler, it also increases the front height slightly, with the keyboard measuring 22.25 mm at the front edge.

Keychron has equipped the P6 Ultra with an 8 kHz polling rate, a specification typically seen in gaming-focused peripherals. Combined with its full-size layout, the keyboard targets users who prefer a complete keyset without giving up responsiveness. A programmable knob is also included, offering additional control for volume, scrolling, or custom functions.

Customization is handled through Keychron Launcher, a browser-based utility that works similarly to VIA. It allows key remapping, macro setup, and profile adjustments without requiring a separate application install.

The P6 Ultra is available with multiple switch options, including Silk POM Red for linear input, Brown for tactile feedback, and Banana switches designed with an earlier tactile bump. The keyboard comes with double-shot PBT keycaps in a Cherry profile, using a black base with gray and orange accent keys.

Wireless connectivity includes 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth 5.3, supporting a range of devices from PCs to mobile hardware. The built-in 4,000 mAh battery is rated for up to 660 hours of use with backlighting off, or around 200 hours on the lowest brightness setting.

Internally, the design shares similarities with the Lemokey P2 HE, including a silicone bean gasket mount and a structure built for easier disassembly. This points to a consistent design direction across Keychron’s newer models.

The P6 Ultra is currently listed at $199.99 on Keychron’s official store, while listings on Amazon show it priced at $179.99. It is available in a single black color option at launch.
