Keychron Launches K2 HE All-Wood Special Edition with Magnetic Switch System

Keychron has introduced a new addition to its wireless mechanical keyboard range with the launch of the K2 HE All-Wood Special Edition. This model builds on the K2 HE series that debuted during the CES 2025 showcase, keeping the core magnetic switch platform while adopting a wooden chassis crafted from walnut. With this release, Keychron expands its approach to alternative case materials, aiming to offer users another option within its growing magnetic-switch keyboard catalog.

The All-Wood Edition maintains the 75% layout familiar to K2 HE users but replaces the aluminium body with a full wooden enclosure supported by CNC-machined aluminium side panels. The company states that this construction aims to provide a different typing feel and acoustic profile, while still preserving the rigidity needed for a magnetic switch system.

As with the previous K2 HE variants, the keyboard features Gateron double-rail magnetic switches, enabling adjustable actuation points, rapid triggers, and full-range 360° input control. These functions are available through the Keychron web configurator, where users can tune key sensitivity, manage lighting presets, and assign multi-action key mappings. Keychron continues to limit this model to double-rail magnetic switches only, meaning it is not compatible with other Gateron magnetic switch types.

Connectivity remains consistent across the lineup. Users can choose between 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.1, or USB-C wired mode. The polling rate reaches 1000 Hz when using wired or 2.4 GHz wireless, while Bluetooth operates at 125 Hz. The keyboard also includes north-facing RGB lighting, screw-in PCB stabilizers, NKRO support, and compatibility with both macOS and Windows through included keycaps.

The K2 HE All-Wood Special Edition arrives fully assembled. Inside the package, users will find the wooden case, PCB, aluminium plate, and preinstalled Gateron Double-Rail Magnetic Nebula switches. The keyboard ships with OSA double-shot PBT keycaps, following Keychron’s recent shift toward more durable and long-lasting keycap materials. With its north-facing LED design, the lighting is positioned to better illuminate legends on the PBT keycaps.

Keychron prices the All-Wood Edition at $199.99, placing it $60 above the previous special edition and $70 more than the standard K2 HE model. The company appears to position this release for users interested in the performance characteristics of magnetic switches, but who prefer a wooden case over aluminium or plastic alternatives.

The new K2 HE All-Wood Special Edition is now listed on Keychron’s official store. Shipping schedules and regional availability may vary, depending on distribution timelines and stock levels.
