Keychron has officially introduced the Z1 Max, a new flagship custom mechanical keyboard aimed at users looking for premium materials, wireless flexibility, and extensive customization options. The keyboard will be available in two themed versions, Dark Knight and Desert Ranger, combining an all-aluminum chassis with tri-mode connectivity and a compact 75% layout.
The Keychron Z1 Max uses an 82-key 75% layout, making it suitable for users who want to save desk space without giving up dedicated function keys. It supports wired USB, Bluetooth, and 2.4GHz wireless connectivity, while offering a 1,000Hz polling rate for responsive performance during gaming and everyday use. A built-in 5,000mAh battery powers the keyboard in wireless mode, allowing users to switch between devices without relying on a cable.
The keyboard features a five-axis CNC-machined aluminum body with a 220-grit sandblasted surface, followed by anodizing and an electrophoretic coating for a durable finish. According to Keychron, the design draws inspiration from robotic legs, creating a 6-degree typing angle that is intended to provide a more comfortable typing position during extended use.
The keyboard also introduces what Keychron calls the Super Dream Dynamic Island, a multifunction control center positioned in the upper-right corner. This module combines a rotary knob, programmable buttons, and a customizable display that can show personalized information, monitor real-time typing speed, adjust RGB lighting, and provide quick access to various keyboard functions.
Keychron has also focused on the rear design of the Z1 Max. The back panel features an abyss-inspired pattern with more than 20 lighting effects, adding another layer of RGB customization. Other premium details include a CNC-machined aluminum backplate with an integrated counterweight, a magnetic storage compartment for the 2.4GHz wireless receiver, and an embedded metal nameplate.
Inside, the Z1 Max adopts a five-layer damped gasket structure designed to reduce vibration and improve typing comfort. The keyboard includes a full hot-swappable PCB, allowing users to replace mechanical switches without soldering. It also features south-facing RGB LEDs, an FR4 positioning plate, custom-designed Huanuo Qiming switches, and themed Cyber keycaps made from a dual-material combination of PBT and PC.
