KBDfans Tofu60 3.0 Announced With Wireless, Hall-Effect PCB, and Expanded Customization

KBDfans has officially announced the Tofu60 3.0, the latest revision of its long-running Tofu60 custom keyboard series. The new version builds on the design and layout that helped make the original Tofu60 popular, while adding more configuration options and modern PCB choices. Pre-orders for the Tofu60 3.0 will open on December 30, 2025, and remain available until January 30, 2026. According to KBDfans, shipping is expected to begin in Q2 2026.

The Tofu60 3.0 retains the familiar 60% layout, which prioritizes desk space and portability over dedicated function keys, arrow keys, and navigation clusters. Like previous models, the keyboard is made entirely from CNC-machined aluminium and features an anodized finish. This generation introduces a revised internal structure that supports both top mount and PCB gasket mount designs, giving builders more control over typing feel and sound depending on their preference.

KBDfans is offering a wider range of PCB options with the Tofu60 3.0. Buyers can choose between wired mechanical PCBs in soldered or hot-swap versions, a wireless mechanical PCB with Bluetooth support, and a wired Hall-effect PCB aimed at users interested in magnetic switch technology. The dual-mode mechanical variants support both wired and Bluetooth operation. The wireless models run on ZMK firmware, which is widely used in custom keyboards for its efficiency and flexibility. While no official battery life figures have been shared, ZMK-based keyboards are generally known for low power consumption.

Customization remains a core focus of the Tofu60 3.0. The bottom case is available in both matte and textured finishes, and buyers can mix and match colors across different case components. KBDfans provides an online configuration tool that allows users to preview their selected colors and parts before purchasing. In addition to standard colorways, a “Custom Colors” option is available for those looking for less common finishes, though these come at a higher price.

Layout support is also broad. The Tofu60 3.0 is available in WK, WKL, and HHKB layouts, covering most common preferences within the 60% form factor. Mechanical variants support both ANSI and ISO layouts, making the keyboard suitable for users in different regions.

Plate options include FR4, PEI, polycarbonate, aluminium, and carbon fiber. For experienced builders, KBDfans also offers a plate-less build option, which is primarily intended for soldered mechanical PCBs. Optional internal case foams are available to help reduce case resonance and alter sound characteristics.

As with earlier Tofu keyboards, the Tofu60 3.0 supports optional weight bars. Buyers can choose between aluminium, stainless steel, and copper weights, each affecting the keyboard’s overall weight and balance. These are sold separately and can be added during configuration.

Pricing starts at $130 for the barebones kit, which does not include switches, stabilizers, or keycaps but does include a carrying case. The wireless hot-swap version with ZMK firmware and internal foams is priced at $159.01. Weight bars cost $15 for aluminium, $35 for stainless steel, and $51 for copper. The Hall-effect base model starts at $165.01 without a weight bar.

With expanded PCB options, updated mounting support, and deeper customization, the Tofu60 3.0 continues KBDfans’ focus on the compact keyboard segment while adding features that reflect current trends in the custom keyboard market.
