IO Interactive, the studio known for the HITMAN franchise, in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios, has released the official launch trailer for 007 First Light, giving players a final look at its upcoming James Bond origin story ahead of release. The game is set to launch on May 27, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC through Steam and Epic Games Store, while a Nintendo Switch 2 version will arrive later in Summer 2026. Pre-orders are already available, and players who purchase early will receive a free upgrade to the Deluxe Edition, which includes 24-hour early access along with exclusive in-game cosmetics and outfits.
007 First Light follows a younger James Bond, portrayed by Patrick Gibson, as he enters the world of MI6 after gaining attention for his actions during a critical situation in Iceland. The story explores his early development as an intelligence agent, where his instincts and decision-making style begin to shape his identity. Within MI6, Bond finds support from M, played by Priyanga Burford, who sees potential in his ability to stay composed under pressure. However, his approach is challenged by John Greenway, portrayed by Lennie James, a former 00 agent who trains recruits with a strict, rule-based philosophy that often clashes with Bond’s more flexible methods.

The narrative expands across multiple international locations, including the Carpathian Mountains and the black market region of Aleph, as Bond tracks the return of the rogue agent 009. Along the way, players encounter new characters, including Bawma, played by Lenny Kravitz, adding further tension to the unfolding mission.
Gameplay is built around IO Interactive’s Creative Approach system, allowing players to complete objectives in different ways depending on their preferred playstyle. Stealth remains a core option, but direct combat and mixed approaches are also supported. Players can gather intelligence through observation, eavesdropping, and environmental interaction, while Bond’s Instinct system provides situational advantages during infiltration and combat. Q Branch gadgets further expand tactical options, offering tools for hacking, distractions, and silent takedowns. When stealth breaks down, combat shifts into a faster pace with close-range takedowns and firearm engagements that reflect Bond’s measured use of force.

Replay value is supported through the Tactical Simulation mode, or TacSim, which is set inside an MI6 training facility. This mode allows players to replay missions with modifiers, score-based challenges, and progression rewards. Initially, only select missions will be available, with full access unlocked after completing the main story.
With release now just days away, 007 First Light is positioned as a major new entry in the James Bond gaming universe, focusing on player choice, flexible mission design, and a grounded origin story experience across multiple platforms.
