Competitive gaming keyboards continue to push input scanning and actuation technology, and HEXGEARS is joining that race with its new MX68 V2 wired magnetic switch keyboard. The compact keyboard combines an 8KHz polling rate with a 64KHz scanning rate for the WASD keys, while offering 0.01mm Rapid Trigger accuracy for users looking for more control over key activation and reset behavior.
At the core of the HEXGEARS MX68 V2 is the company’s HEX Star Magnet eSports switch solution, which is designed to provide up to 0.002mm precision and a claimed 0.1ms response latency. The keyboard uses magnetic switches that can detect key movement throughout the switch’s travel, allowing the input behavior to be adjusted rather than relying on a fixed mechanical actuation point.
The MX68 V2 uses Kailh Crystal Magnetic Switches with an actuation force of 35±5gf and 3.5±0.2mm of total actuation travel. HEXGEARS lists the initial magnetic induction intensity at 90±15Gs, increasing to 480±40Gs at bottom-out. The switches are paired with PC keycaps that feature a matte finish across their top surfaces.
The keyboard’s scanning system is also designed around competitive gaming. It supports an 8KHz polling rate, while the WASD keys can be scanned at up to 64KHz. The remaining keys operate with a 32KHz scanning rate. This gives the keyboard a particularly high scanning frequency for the keys most commonly used for movement in PC games.
Beyond the electronics, HEXGEARS has given the MX68 V2 a mecha-style quick-release frame and an ergonomic front shovel design. The keyboard also includes dual-stage feet for adjusting the typing angle and integrated RGB ambient lighting around the chassis.
HEXGEARS has added a five-layer internal filling structure to the MX68 V2 as well. While the company has not disclosed the complete composition of each layer, the construction is intended to shape the keyboard’s typing feel and sound.
The combination of magnetic switches, high-frequency scanning, adjustable Rapid Trigger behavior, and an 8KHz polling rate puts the HEXGEARS MX68 V2 firmly into the current performance gaming keyboard market. HEXGEARS has yet to announce final pricing and global availability, so those details will determine where the MX68 V2 sits when it reaches retailers.
