Grand Theft Auto V PC Upgrade Now Available with Enhanced Features and Performance Improvements

Rockstar Games has officially released the long-awaited upgrade for Grand Theft Auto V on PC, bringing a host of enhancements that were previously exclusive to the latest generation of consoles. Available now through the Rockstar Games Launcher, Steam, and Epic Games, this update introduces optimizations that leverage modern PC hardware for an improved gameplay experience. Players who already own GTA V on PC can upgrade for free, with the option to transfer their Story Mode and GTA Online progress. Newcomers will receive both the GTA V Enhanced and GTA V Legacy editions when making a purchase.

PC players can now access exclusive content from Hao’s Special Works, including powerful vehicles and customizations. Newly added vehicles include the Pegassi Weaponized Ignus, Coil Cyclone II, Karin S95, Imponte Arbiter GT, and Pfister Astron Custom, all of which can be modified at HSW for enhanced performance.

Additionally, GTA+ members can claim the Principe Deveste Eight (Super) for free until May 28 as part of a special Classics Collection, celebrating the expansion of GTA+ to PC.

Beyond vehicular upgrades, the game world now includes an expanded animal ecosystem with Ambient Animal encounters. Players can engage in a Wildlife Photography Challenge courtesy of the LS Tourist Board, adding a new layer of exploration to the game.

A refreshed landing page and an improved introductory flow now make it easier for both new and returning players to jump into the action. The Career Builder system provides GTA$4,000,000 in startup funds, allowing players to select from four different criminal career paths. Meanwhile, the Career Progress tracker offers an overview of in-game achievements and unlockable rewards.

The Oscar Guzman Flies Again update has also launched alongside the upgrade, adding new arms trafficking missions, a McKenzie Field Hangar expansion in Grapeseed, and fresh aircraft options for players to expand their smuggling operations.

The upgraded version of GTA V for PC brings significant graphical and technical improvements, offering support for advanced rendering techniques such as ray tracing for ambient occlusion and global illumination. Players with high-end GPUs can also enjoy ray-traced shadows and reflections, previously introduced on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Other technical enhancements include:

  • Support for AMD FSR and NVIDIA DLSS, with Frame Generation support arriving in a future update.
  • DualSense controller support, featuring adaptive triggers and haptic feedback.
  • Faster loading times via SSD optimizations and DirectStorage technology.
  • Higher resolutions, aspect ratios, and frame rates for an optimized PC experience.
  • Enhanced audio fidelity, with Dolby Atmos support and improved voice, cinematic, and music clarity.

For players whose systems do not meet the new minimum requirements, the GTA V Legacy version remains accessible. However, Legacy players will be placed on separate servers from those running the Enhanced edition, requiring friends to match versions for online play. Players who uploaded their Story Mode save data before launch can now download and migrate their progress to the upgraded edition.

To improve the overall player experience, Rockstar Games has also introduced kernel-based anti-cheat protections and proactive voice chat moderation within GTA Online. These measures aim to create a fairer multiplayer environment, and players are encouraged to review Rockstar’s Community Guidelines to maintain a positive gaming experience.

The Grand Theft Auto V PC upgrade brings an array of new content, improved visuals, and technical refinements, making it the definitive version of the game for PC players. Whether revisiting Los Santos or diving in for the first time, this enhanced edition ensures an optimized and immersive experience, packed with new gameplay features and performance upgrades.
