Following the global attention received by Chinese-developed action titles such as Black Myth: Wukong and the rising interest around Phantom Blade: Zero, another high-profile project has entered the spotlight. GeniGods Lab has officially announced GeniGods: Nezha, a single-player action RPG rooted in Chinese mythology. The studio has confirmed plans to release the game onPC (Steam) and PlayStation 5, with a tentative launch window set between 2027 and 2028.
GeniGods Lab is best known for its previous work on the mobile title My Hero Academia: The Strongest Hero. With GeniGods: Nezha, the studio is shifting its focus to a large-scale, high-fidelity action experience aimed at core console and PC audiences. The project is described as a hardcore action RPG, placing emphasis on skill-based combat, reactive defense, and myth-inspired abilities.

The game’s narrative centers on the Spirit Pearl, described as the first life created by Nüwa, the Goddess of Life, using the elements of earth, water, and fire. This Spirit Pearl is later reborn as Nezha, a legendary figure in Chinese folklore. Players will explore well-known creation myths, face powerful gods, and progress through a story built around divine conflict and rebirth.
Combat in GeniGods: Nezha is designed around two interconnected styles that allow players to switch freely between ground and aerial encounters. On the ground, Nezha wields the Fire-Tipped Spear, enabling close-range attacks, defensive blocks, and timed parries. Aerial combat takes place using the Wind Fire Wheels, which allow fast movement, airborne strikes, and extended combo chains. The transition between these two modes is intended to be seamless, encouraging constant movement and positioning.

According to the developers, the combat system is influenced by Bruce Lee’s “Be Water” philosophy. Nezha contains Divine Water energy, which players can control and shape during battle. This energy can be focused to enhance physical power or combined with magical items to unlock special effects. The design encourages players to react to enemy behavior rather than rely on fixed attack patterns.

Several combat techniques are inspired by the principles of Jeet Kune Do. Examples include a concentrated One-Inch Flash attack capable of breaking enemy armor, and a wider Dragon’s Kick-style move designed to strike multiple enemies at once. Defensive timing plays a key role, as successful blocks and counters are central to maintaining momentum in combat.
While the release date remains unconfirmed, GeniGods Lab has shared early PC system requirements.
