FromSoftware Unveils The Duskbloods, a Nintendo Switch 2 Exclusive Set for 2026

During today’s Nintendo Direct, FromSoftware announced The Duskbloods, a new multiplayer-focused action game coming exclusively to the Nintendo Switch 2 next year. While details remain limited, the game’s initial reveal showcased a dark, gothic setting that appears to lean into themes of vampirism and supernatural horror. The title’s eerie atmosphere, combined with its fast-paced movement, has drawn comparisons to Bloodborne and Elden Ring: Nightreign.

FromSoftware is known for its challenging gameplay and intricate world-building, and The Duskbloods seems to continue that tradition. While the reveal trailer was brief, it provided a glimpse of the game’s fluid combat and traversal mechanics, suggesting a system that allows for high mobility similar to Elden Ring: Nightreign. The gothic setting and dark storytelling elements have also led to speculation that the game might take inspiration from classic vampire lore, with some even comparing it to Castlevania.

The multiplayer aspect of the game remains one of the biggest mysteries. FromSoftware has experimented with multiplayer mechanics in the past, from the cooperative and competitive elements of Dark Souls to the online invasions of Elden Ring. It is currently unclear whether The Duskbloods will follow a similar approach or introduce a more structured multiplayer experience.

While the reveal left many questions unanswered, more information is expected in the coming months. FromSoftware has announced Creator’s Voice, a new developer diary series featuring director Hidetaka Miyazaki. The first episode, scheduled for April 4th, will provide deeper insights into the game’s development, gameplay mechanics, and overall design philosophy.

Given the secrecy surrounding the project, it is likely that The Duskbloods has been in development for some time. The game marks FromSoftware’s first exclusive release on Nintendo hardware in years, and it will be interesting to see how the company optimizes its signature gameplay for the new console.

Before The Duskbloods launches next year, FromSoftware will release Elden Ring: Nightreign next month for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. This expansion introduces roguelike elements to the world of Elden Ring and will also be available on the Nintendo Switch 2. The addition of Nightreign to the Switch 2’s lineup raises questions about how the system will handle FromSoftware’s games, as performance expectations for the new hardware remain a topic of discussion.

As anticipation builds for The Duskbloods, fans will have to wait for further updates to learn more about its gameplay structure, multiplayer features, and story direction. More details are expected to emerge throughout the year as the game nears its 2026 launch.
