Electronic Arts has officially confirmed that the next entry in the Battlefield series (Battlefield 6)is set to launch by the end of March 2026. The announcement was included in the company’s latest quarterly earnings report, which also outlined plans for a full public reveal sometime this summer. The publisher emphasized that this installment will play a major role in the future direction of the franchise.
During the earnings call, EA CEO Andrew Wilson described the upcoming game as “a pivotal step in defining our next generation of blockbuster entertainment.” His statement indicates that EA is aiming to rebuild player trust and long-term support for the franchise following a rocky reception to Battlefield 2042. That title launched in late 2021 with a range of technical issues and design decisions that drew criticism from longtime fans.
Behind the scenes, development on the new Battlefield title has been underway for some time. Closed testing began in March, although participants are bound by strict non-disclosure agreements. Despite these restrictions, early gameplay footage has leaked online, prompting responses from the development team. In early May, EA and DICE announced plans to widen access to the test phase, inviting additional players from Europe, North America, and Asia. Those interested in joining can still register through the official Battlefield website.

DICE, the lead developer, has outlined key areas of focus for this phase of testing. These include adjustments to weapon balance, damage values, and movement systems. The team is also working to improve the overall pacing of matches and enhance the feel of combat scenarios. Destruction—a longtime hallmark of the Battlefield series—remains a central feature, with DICE fine-tuning how players can use destructible environments like vehicles, buildings, and terrain features for tactical advantage.
More detailed updates are expected later this year, particularly around class-based gameplay roles and the scope of the game’s large-scale War Mode. EA is approaching this project with a more open and responsive development model compared to previous titles, with frequent updates and direct engagement with the community.
The game is being developed by a group of four EA-owned studios working under the unified “Battlefield Studios” banner. DICE is leading the multiplayer component, while Motive is contributing both multiplayer map content and single-player missions. Criterion is in charge of the solo campaign, and Ripple Effect is creating a new gameplay element that has not yet been detailed.
With more information expected to arrive over the summer, EA is positioning the next Battlefield 6 game as a major release in its upcoming lineup.
