Hideo Kojima’s next project, Death Stranding 2, will officially launch on June 26, 2025, exclusively for PlayStation 5. The game is currently going through the final stages of development and has already been submitted to Sony Interactive Entertainment for certification. According to the development team, only a few minor bugs remain to be fixed before release.
To mark the launch, Sony has revealed a limited edition DualSense wireless controller themed around Death Stranding 2. The controller features a yellow and black color design with game-related patterns printed on the surface. It will be released on the same day as the game and is priced at HK$668 or NT$2,580.
Death Stranding 2 is a third-person open-world action-adventure game that follows the story of Sam, the main character from the original title. In this sequel, Sam begins a new journey across a fractured world. The game keeps the asynchronous multiplayer system from the first game, allowing players to indirectly interact with others by leaving behind structures, roads, or signs. These contributions remain in the game world and can be seen by other players who connect to the same area. This system encourages cooperation and adds a shared layer to the experience without requiring direct online interaction.
Sony has also released pricing details for different editions of the game through the Hong Kong PlayStation Store. The Standard Edition is priced at HK$568, while the Digital Deluxe Edition is available for HK$628. For players looking for additional content, the Collector’s Edition will be priced at HK$1,800 and includes both digital bonuses and physical items. Players who pre-order the Digital Deluxe or Collector’s Edition will be able to start playing 48 hours before the official release.
With the launch approaching, Death Stranding 2 is shaping up to be one of the major titles for the PlayStation 5 this year. More details on regional availability, preorder options, and gameplay features are expected to be shared in the coming weeks.
