CHERRY has introduced its new KC 500 MX LP series, a pair of slim mechanical keyboards targeting professionals, developers, and gamers who require durable and responsive input devices. The series debuts the company’s latest CHERRY MX Low Profile 2.0 mechanical switches, marking a significant update to its low-profile lineup.
The KC 500 MX LP is available in two formats: a full-size layout with a number pad and a more compact tenkeyless (TKL) version designed for users who prefer a cleaner desk setup. Both models share a refined design, a slim metal construction, and the same high-performance switches that CHERRY says are rated for over 100 million keystrokes.

At the heart of these new keyboards is the CHERRY MX Low Profile 2.0 switch, which has been redesigned from the inside out. Improvements include a newly engineered spring, refined internal mechanics, and a factory-applied premium lubricant. These changes are aimed at delivering a smoother keystroke with quieter operation compared to previous models, while retaining the mechanical precision and durability that CHERRY switches are known for.
To complement the upgraded switches, the KC 500 MX LP keyboards come with double-shot PBT keycaps. PBT is widely regarded for its resistance to wear and shine, helping ensure that the keyboard maintains a clean look even after extended use. A solid metal top plate adds to the structural integrity of the board without increasing bulk, allowing it to maintain a slim profile.

Other features include adjustable tilt feet for improved ergonomics, status LEDs, and subtle white backlighting with dimming control. The lighting is intended to enhance visibility in low-light environments without being overly bright or distracting.
The keyboard is offered in two color options—black and warm gray. This allows users to match their keyboard to different workspace aesthetics, whether it’s a professional office setup or a home environment.

Both versions are plug-and-play over USB and are designed to be OS-agnostic, making them a practical choice for a wide range of users. While they lack dedicated macro or media keys, the layout is clean and focused, aiming to appeal to those who prioritize typing comfort and build quality.
The CHERRY KC 500 MX LP is now available through official channels and select retailers. The full-size version carries a suggested retail price of €109.99, while the tenkeyless variant is priced at €99.99.
