CD Projekt Red is preparing to raise the minimum hardware requirements for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered on PC, with the changes affecting the operating system, processor, graphics card, memory, and storage requirements. The update means that players using older PCs, Windows 10, or traditional hard drives may need to upgrade their systems to remain within the officially supported configuration.
The revised minimum requirements represent a major increase over the specifications originally listed for the game. The Witcher 3 launched in 2015 and was initially designed to run on hardware such as Intel’s Core i5-2500K and NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 660. The updated requirements move the baseline to newer six-core processors and significantly more capable graphics hardware.
Players will now need at least an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600 processor, paired with 12GB of RAM. On the graphics side, the minimum requirement is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 with 6GB of VRAM, AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT with 8GB of memory, or Intel Arc A580 graphics.

The changes also mark the end of official support for older storage configurations. An SSD is now required, replacing the previous support for conventional hard drives. This could help reduce loading times and provide a more consistent experience as the game continues to receive technical updates.
The storage requirement has also increased to 70GB, while DirectX 12 is now part of the required configuration. The higher hardware baseline follows several years of updates to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, including the next-generation update that introduced ray tracing, updated textures, visual improvements, and other PC-focused features.
The move to Windows 11 is another important change. Windows 10 users may still be able to run the game depending on their existing setup, but CD Projekt Red’s official minimum requirements will now focus on Microsoft’s newer operating system.
