Capcom has released new information about its upcoming science fiction game, PRAGMATA, alongside a fresh trailer that highlights key aspects of the story, combat mechanics, and exploration elements. The game is now officially slated for release on PC and Console in 2026 and will also be playable at Gamescom 2025, where attendees will get a hands-on look through a special demo.
Set in a futuristic environment on the Moon, PRAGMATA follows the story of Hugh Williams, a member of a lunar exploration unit sent to investigate a communication blackout at a research facility. The narrative takes a turn after a lunar quake separates Hugh from the rest of his crew. He later regains consciousness and discovers that he has been rescued by Diana, an android girl who possesses mysterious abilities. The two characters must work together to find a way back to Earth while navigating the dangers of a collapsed lunar facility and its surrounding areas.
Capcom’s latest update outlines how the combat system in PRAGMATA will work. Players will need to first break through enemy armor before dealing meaningful damage. Diana’s unique abilities will be central to this process, as her powers can dismantle these armored defenses, allowing Hugh to target exposed weak points. The game promises a variety of weapons and combat tools, as well as a wide range of enemy types, primarily robotic threats.
Beyond combat, PRAGMATA will include puzzle-solving elements and a focus on exploration. Players will be able to use the abilities of both Hugh and Diana to navigate the game’s environments. The development team is aiming to create a layered experience where combat, traversal, and narrative all tie together through gameplay mechanics that encourage experimentation and strategy.
The visual design of PRAGMATA appears to be a core focus, with a strong science fiction aesthetic and detailed environments. When the title was originally announced in 2020, it was mentioned that the game would include ray tracing features, though Capcom has not reconfirmed those plans in this latest update.
At the time of writing, no PC system requirements have been provided. However, Capcom has confirmed that the first playable demo will be featured at Gamescom 2025, giving players an early chance to experience the game ahead of its launch the following year.
The new footage of PRAGMATA is part of Capcom’s latest Spotlight presentation. While there is no standalone gameplay video, the relevant section begins at approximately 0:52 in the full stream. Interested viewers can watch the segment to see a first glimpse of in-game mechanics and the overall tone of the title.
More details are expected to surface in the months leading up to Gamescom, as Capcom continues development on one of its most ambitious new IPs in recent years.
