Bungie is preparing to unveil the first official gameplay footage of Marathon, its upcoming extraction shooter, during a live showcase on Saturday, April 12 at 10 AM PT. The event will be broadcast directly from Bungie HQ via the official Marathon Twitch channel and will feature a panel of key development leads discussing the project and answering questions from viewers in real time.
The panel will include Game Director Joe Ziegler, Franchise Art Director Joseph Cross, Senior Design Lead Lars Bakken, Gameplay Director Andrew Witts, and Senior Social Media Manager Andy Salisbury. The session will offer insights into the creative direction of the game and provide a closer look at how Marathon is shaping up.

In the days leading up to the reveal, Bungie engaged the community with a series of cryptic puzzles, secret transmissions, and hidden messages. These activities were orchestrated under the narrative framework of a resistance group known as MIDA, which has become a recurring faction within the Marathon universe. The puzzles spanned multiple platforms, including audio transmissions, coded language, and altered images.
The first big discovery came when players decoded a trail of signals that led to chat logs from Traxus OffWorld Industries. The logs had access details for the CyAC Terminal, which then gave players a tool to decrypt more clues.

Further progression required players to solve a hex-based language puzzle connected to a layered audio sequence. The final step in the chain revealed a new Discord server dedicated to the game—a secure hub for players involved in the unfolding narrative. Joining the server grants access to a personal Digital Access Card (DAC), which acts as a player’s unique identifier and enables participation in faction-based missions within the community.
Players uncovered a surveillance feed linked to Tau Ceti IV, a fictional planet in the game. It was first shown in the “Save the Date” trailer. The feed was unlocked after thousands of players decoded geolocation signals from a satellite map.
Following the showcase, Bungie plans to expand community engagement through additional developer livestreams, Q&A sessions, and interactive content hosted within the game’s official Discord server. These efforts aim to build momentum around Marathon while allowing fans to stay connected with ongoing developments.
The Marathon Gameplay Reveal Showcase marks the first major update on the project since its announcement and is expected to provide the clearest look yet at how Bungie plans to reimagine the iconic title for a new generation of players.
The stream will go live at twitch.tv/marathonthegame, and viewers are encouraged to follow the channel for updates and notifications when the event begins.
