Bandai Namco Reveals New Lineup of Little Nightmares Projects, Including Release Date for Little Nightmares III

Bandai Namco held its Little Nightmares Showcase today, unveiling more than just the anticipated updates for Little Nightmares III. While fans expected a gameplay reveal and a release date, the presentation expanded into a broader announcement of new projects within the Little Nightmares franchise.

The centerpiece of the event was Little Nightmares III, developed by Supermassive Games. It is now confirmed for release on October 10, 2025, and will be available on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Nintendo Switch, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Alongside the release date, a 10-minute gameplay segment was shown, offering a glimpse into the game’s Carnevale level, highlighting its eerie setting and co-op mechanics.

A surprising part of the showcase was the reveal of Little Nightmares: Enhanced Edition, a remaster of the original 2017 title. This version will also launch on October 10 and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. The enhanced edition includes 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, ray-traced reflections, improved visuals, faster loading times, revised checkpoints, and added gameplay assistance features.

However, the method of accessing the enhanced edition drew some attention. It won’t be sold separately until its official launch in October for $39.99. Instead, those who pre-order any edition of Little Nightmares III can access it immediately as part of the pre-order bonus. This differs from the enhanced version of Little Nightmares II, which was provided at no cost to existing owners.

Online reactions have been divided. Some players appreciate the bundle offer, seeing value in receiving two games for the price of one. Others are critical of the decision to lock early access to the remaster behind a pre-order, especially considering the precedent set with the second game’s free upgrade. As of now, Bandai Namco has not indicated any plans to adjust this release strategy.

In addition to the remaster and third installment, several new projects were introduced. Little Nightmares VR: Altered Echoes was teased with a brief trailer, marking the franchise’s first step into virtual reality. No release window or platform information was shared at this time.

The showcase also introduced three narrative expansions of the franchise. These include an audio podcast titled The Sounds of Little Nightmares, a comic series named Little Nightmares: Descent to Nowhere, and a novel called Little Nightmares: The Lonely Ones. Each is designed to build on the existing universe and explore new characters and lore.

Towards the end of the presentation, a short teaser was shown for an unnamed sixth project. It featured a visual style that resembled stop-motion animation. Bandai Namco did not elaborate on the teaser, and it was not mentioned again during the event.

With five confirmed projects and one potential adaptation on the horizon, Bandai Namco has positioned the Little Nightmares franchise for a significant expansion in the coming year. More details on these new ventures are expected in the months ahead as the October launch approaches.
