Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. has officially announced CODE VEIN II, the next entry in its action RPG series. Developed by Bandai Namco Studios Inc., the sequel was revealed during the Summer Game Fest with a new trailer that introduced players to a darker, post-apocalyptic setting. The game is set to release in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
The original CODE VEIN, launched in 2019, gained attention for its anime-inspired art style and Souls-like gameplay mechanics. CODE VEIN II builds on that foundation with a new storyline, updated combat systems, and a world that spans across different time periods.
Set in a crumbling future, the game follows a new protagonist known as the Revenant Hunter. After the appearance of a destructive force called the Luna Rapacis, Revenants—beings sustained by blood—have started losing control, transforming into monstrous entities known as Horrors. In this setting, the Revenant Hunter is joined by a mysterious character named Lou, who possesses the ability to traverse into the past. This ability plays a central role in the story, as players will be able to visit key moments in history to alter the fates of specific Revenants and uncover hidden truths about the world’s downfall.
The narrative continues to explore themes of memory, loss, and sacrifice, with characters and their pasts playing a major role in the unfolding story. As Revenants gather again to battle for the future, the lines between humanity and monstrosity blur further.

Gameplay in CODE VEIN II emphasizes strategic combat, with players able to absorb blood from enemies to unlock special abilities. The game will feature an expanded version of the Blood Code system, allowing for more customization and varied playstyles. New equipment types, known as Jails, will also be introduced, offering new ways to approach both exploration and combat.
Another returning element is the Partner system, where AI-controlled allies accompany players on their journey. Each partner will have their own unique combat abilities and story arcs, providing both support in battle and depth to the narrative. The game encourages players to develop relationships with these characters, as their interactions influence gameplay and story progression.

The environments shown in the announcement trailer depict a fractured world that shifts between two eras—one in ruins and one closer to its original state. These time-travel elements suggest a layered approach to level design and story development.
Bandai Namco has not released a specific launch date beyond the 2026 window, and additional details about the game’s mechanics, characters, and world will be shared over time. CODE VEIN II aims to expand on the ideas and gameplay that made the first game stand out, while introducing new systems that align with the themes of fate, memory, and survival.
