Ayaneo is moving closer to the release of its Next 2 Windows handheld, which is expected to serve as the direct successor to the original Ayaneo Next. The company has confirmed that the Handheld will be powered by AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU, a high-performance processor built on the Zen 5 architecture. It offers 16 cores and 32 threads, 64 MB of L3 cache, and boost speeds of up to 5.1 GHz. The integrated Radeon 8060S GPU features 40 compute units clocked at up to 2.9 GHz, promising performance levels typically seen in compact gaming laptops.
In addition to its processing power, the Ayaneo Next 2 introduces the company’s latest hardware design. It includes a dual-fan cooling system aimed at maintaining thermal efficiency under heavy workloads. The handheld is also expected to feature a large-capacity battery and at least an 8-inch display, based on the images shared by Ayaneo. The overall layout retains a familiar form factor while integrating several updates intended to enhance usability and performance.
For input controls, Ayaneo has equipped the Next 2 with a floating 8-way D-pad, Hall effect triggers, and dual intelligent touchpads. The design also includes customizable rear buttons and dynamic Chroma lighting. These additions provide more flexibility for users, especially those who prefer fine-tuned configurations for gaming and productivity tasks.
While Ayaneo has not announced a specific release date, the Next 2 is positioned as the brand’s flagship Windows handheld. It is expected to deliver a higher level of performance than the Ryzen 7 8840U-based models in Ayaneo’s current lineup. The combination of the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU and advanced cooling indicates that Ayaneo is targeting users who demand top-tier processing power in a portable form factor. The Next 2 will likely compete with devices such as the ASUS ROG Ally X and MSI Claw 8 AI+ once additional details on memory, storage, battery, and connectivity are revealed.
