ATTACK SHARK has expanded its gaming keyboard lineup with the introduction of the R98 HE, a new flagship Hall-effect magnetic switch keyboard designed for competitive gaming, everyday productivity, and keyboard customization. The new Keyboard combines a compact 98% layout with premium materials and high-speed input performance while introducing a front-facing RGB lightbox, a feature that is still uncommon among magnetic switch keyboards.
The R98 HE features a dual carbon fiber composite design that includes a forged-texture carbon fiber composite top cover and matching carbon fiber composite keycaps. According to ATTACK SHARK, the material provides greater rigidity and pressure resistance while helping maintain long-term structural stability. The company says this construction supports the precision required by Hall-effect magnetic switches during competitive gameplay.
The integrated front RGB lightbox adds an extra layer of illumination beyond the standard per-key RGB backlighting. Unlike many magnetic switch keyboards that rely solely on key lighting, the R98 HE projects RGB lighting toward the front of the keyboard for a more immersive desktop appearance. The lighting system offers 22 built-in RGB effects, allowing users to customize the visual experience alongside the keyboard’s standard backlighting.
The keyboard keeps a 98% layout that includes a dedicated number pad, full function row, separate arrow keys, and editing keys, allowing users to retain most of the functionality of a full-size keyboard while reducing desk space.
Gaming performance is powered by ATTACK SHARK’s latest Hall-effect magnetic sensing technology. The company says the R98 HE supports rapid trigger adjustment down to 0.005mm with zero dead zone, allowing users to customize key actuation for faster movement and repeated key presses in competitive games. The keyboard is also equipped with a custom gaming controller featuring a 256K scan sampling rate, a true 8,000Hz polling rate, and a claimed latency of just 0.08ms for faster input response.
ATTACK SHARK has also focused on typing comfort by incorporating an aluminium alloy positioning plate together with a five-layer sound-dampening structure. This combination is designed to reduce internal resonance and cavity noise while delivering a cleaner typing sound.
The company’s custom magnetic switches use a contactless electromagnetic design rated for up to 100 million keystrokes. Full-key hot-swappable support allows users to install compatible magnetic switches and create different switch combinations for gaming and productivity without replacing the keyboard.
Additional customization options are available through ATTACK SHARK’s software and web-based driver, allowing users to remap keys, adjust keyboard settings, and configure lighting effects. The keyboard also includes a CNC-machined aluminium alloy rotary knob with anodized finishing for quick system volume control.
