ASUS is expanding its gaming audio lineup with the ROG Gjallar, a premium soundbar aimed at gamers who want immersive audio without filling their desk or living room with a traditional multi-speaker setup. The new system combines 2.1.2-channel Dolby Atmos audio, a wireless 65-watt subwoofer, HDMI 2.1 connectivity, built-in microphones, and RGB lighting in a single package.
The ROG Gjallar uses full-range speakers, dedicated tweeters, and upward-firing channels to create a three-dimensional soundstage. ASUS says the setup is designed to make directional sounds easier to identify during games, which can help players track footsteps, gunfire, and other audio cues. The system is also designed for movies and music, with dedicated EQ profiles available for different types of content.
At the low end, the soundbar is paired with a 6.5-inch, 65W wireless subwoofer. It uses a 5 GHz wireless connection for low-latency audio and has a slim design that gives users more flexibility when positioning it around a desk or entertainment setup.
The ROG Gjallar also puts audio controls directly within reach through its dedicated control hub. The hub includes an LCD display and provides access to EQ settings, playback controls, input selection, and RGB lighting. Users can switch between gaming, music, and movie EQ profiles without needing to open a separate application.
For voice communication, ASUS has integrated Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC) microphones into the control hub. An AI beamforming system is also used to focus on the user’s voice while reducing background sounds such as PC fans and system noise.
Connectivity is another major part of the ROG Gjallar. The soundbar features USB-C, HDMI 2.1 with eARC, optical, AUX, and Bluetooth 5.3. Its HDMI connection supports up to 4K at 120 Hz pass-through, while eARC handles high-resolution audio. The soundbar can be used with PCs, Macs, mobile devices, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch consoles.
ASUS has also included two USB Type-A ports on the side, allowing users to connect wireless receiver dongles, storage devices, and other peripherals. Aura RGB lighting adds up to 16.8 million colors and four preset effects, with additional controls available through ASUS’ Gear Link web tool and mobile app.
