Anbernic Launches RG DS Plus With Dual 4.3-Inch Screens and Built-In Stylus for $84.99

Anbernic is giving dual-screen handheld gaming another push with the new RG DS Plus, a clamshell console built around two larger high-resolution displays and a built-in stylus. The handheld is now listed on Anbernic’s store for $84.99, putting it in the same price range as several compact retro gaming systems while offering a design focused on games that use two screens.

The RG DS Plus features two 4.3-inch IPS displays, with each panel offering a 1024 × 768 resolution. Both screens use OCA full lamination, while the lower display supports multi-touch input. Anbernic has also included a capacitive stylus, allowing users to interact directly with the touchscreen without having to carry a separate accessory. The clamshell design adds several hardware features intended for portable use. A Hall-effect magnetic switch automatically puts the device into sleep mode when the lid is closed. The hinge can be positioned from 15 to 180 degrees, giving users some flexibility when playing on a desk or holding the system in their hands.

Compared with Anbernic’s previous RG DS handheld, the RG DS Plus features larger screens. It uses a dual-screen layout that suits Nintendo DS-style games and other software where gameplay and additional information can be displayed separately. The RG DS Plus measures 167 × 96 × 24mm and weighs approximately 344 grams. Anbernic is offering the handheld in Matte Black, Coral Pink, and Metallic Blue.

Anbernic has equipped the system with a Rockchip RK3568 processor, featuring four ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores running at up to 2.0GHz. Graphics are handled by an ARM G52 2EE GPU, while the system has 1GB of RAM. The handheld runs Linux and comes with 16GB of TF storage in its base configuration. A TF card slot supports storage expansion up to 2TB. Storage configurations include a 16GB version as well as options bundled with 64GB or 128GB cards.

The software supports more than 20 game formats, with the company also highlighting compatibility with NDS-format games through supported emulation software. The system includes Wi-Fi 5 connectivity through 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, along with Bluetooth 4.2. Online multiplayer and streaming features are also listed among its capabilities. Power comes from a 4,000mAh battery, with Anbernic claiming up to six hours of use on a charge. The system charges at 5V/1.5A and includes stereo speakers, vibration, a 3.5mm headphone port, and USB connectivity.

At $84.99, the Anbernic RG DS Plus is aimed at users who want a dedicated dual-screen handheld rather than another conventional single-screen retro console. Its combination of two 4.3-inch displays, touchscreen support, an integrated stylus, and Linux-based software gives it a clear focus on dual-screen gaming while retaining the portability expected from Anbernic’s handheld lineup.
