AMD Unveils Radeon RX 9060 XT at Computex 2025, Targets Mid-Range Market with Strong 1080p Performance

At Computex 2025, AMD introduced the Radeon RX 9060 XT, a new mid-range graphics card aimed at gamers looking for strong 1080p performance with ray tracing enabled. The new GPU is built on AMD’s latest RDNA 4 architecture and is based on the Navi 44 chip, manufactured using TSMC’s 4 nm process. AMD is offering two variants of the RX 9060 XT — one with 16 GB of GDDR6 memory priced at $350, and another with 8 GB priced at $300.

The Radeon RX 9060 XT is designed to handle modern games at 1080p with maximum settings, including ray tracing effects. AMD also highlighted support for its latest upscaling technologies, including FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 4, and an upcoming feature set codenamed “Project Redstone,” which is expected to improve performance and image quality in supported titles.

Both models of the RX 9060 XT are fully unlocked versions of the Navi 44 GPU, featuring 32 compute units. This configuration results in 2,048 stream processors, 64 AI accelerators, 32 ray tracing accelerators, and 128 texture mapping units. The card is also expected to carry 64 render output units (ROPs), although AMD hasn’t officially confirmed that figure. The memory interface is 128 bits wide and uses GDDR6 memory, but the company did not specify the exact memory speeds. Total board power for both variants is listed at 180 watts.

In terms of compute capabilities, AMD says the RX 9060 XT 16 GB can deliver up to 821 peak TOPS (trillions of operations per second) using INT4 precision, which is aimed at accelerating AI-enhanced gaming features.

As part of its announcement, AMD shared internal performance comparisons against the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8 GB. According to AMD, the RX 9060 XT 16 GB outperforms the RTX 5060 Ti by an average of 6% across a test suite of 40 games at 1440p resolution. With an MSRP of $350, AMD’s 16 GB model undercuts the $380 price tag of the RTX 5060 Ti, giving AMD a claimed 15% advantage in performance-per-dollar. No specific performance comparisons were provided for the 8 GB variant.

The launch also highlights a strategic move for AMD, as NVIDIA currently does not offer a 16 GB version of the standard RTX 5060. This could help the RX 9060 XT 16 GB gain traction among users who prioritize VRAM capacity in modern titles, particularly those that are memory-intensive.

Both the 8 GB and 16 GB versions of the Radeon RX 9060 XT are scheduled to become available on June 5, 2025. More detailed third-party benchmarks are expected to follow shortly after release, offering a clearer picture of how the card stacks up against the competition in real-world gaming scenarios.
