ASUS has finally revealed how much gamers will have to pay for the standalone ROG Xbox Ally X20, with the high-end handheld now available to pre-order in the US for $1,299.99. The company first introduced the X20 at Computex 2026, but while ASUS confirmed that it would be sold alongside the Xreal R1 Edition 20 AR glasses or as a standalone device, the standalone pricing was left unclear.
That wait is now over. The ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X20 carries a $1,299.99 price tag in the US, putting it $300 above the standard ROG Xbox Ally X. Best Buy has also listed the handheld for pre-order, with the retailer confirming October 15, 2026, as the date when sales and shipments are scheduled to begin.
The X20 uses AMD’s Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme APU, paired with 24GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. ASUS has also made several hardware changes to the Anniversary Edition, including a smoky translucent chassis and revised controls.
The largest upgrade is the display. The ROG Xbox Ally X20 features a 7.4-inch ROG Nebula HDR OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,400 nits of peak brightness. The OLED panel should provide deeper blacks and stronger contrast than the LCD display found on the standard model, while the higher brightness is designed to improve HDR gaming.
ASUS has also replaced the traditional analogue sticks with TMR joysticks. Rather than relying on conventional potentiometers, TMR sticks use magnetic sensing to detect movement. The X20 also gets redesigned ABXY buttons with rounded, flush tops, which ASUS says are designed to make movement between the buttons easier.
The D-pad has received a change as well, with a swappable topper that follows the idea used by Microsoft’s Xbox Elite controllers. Along with the updated controls, ASUS has revised the handheld’s ergonomics to improve how it feels during extended gaming sessions.
For buyers who want the Xreal R1 Edition 20 AR glasses, the combined configuration costs $2,499.99 in the US. In the UK, the standalone ROG Xbox Ally X20 is priced at £1,299, while the AR glasses version costs £2,299.
With pre-orders now live, the October 15 launch date gives buyers a confirmed timeline for the arrival of ASUS’ most feature-heavy Xbox-branded handheld to date.
