A new gaming monitor from KTC is trying to cover two very different use cases with a single display. The KTC M27P6S combines a 27-inch 4K Mini-LED panel running at up to 160Hz with a second mode that pushes the refresh rate to 320Hz at Full HD resolution. That gives gamers the option to prioritize image quality in demanding games or switch to a much higher refresh rate for competitive FPS titles.
The M27P6S uses a 2,304-zone Mini LED backlight and supports HDR1400, giving it a considerably more advanced backlight system than conventional edge-lit gaming monitors. KTC is also using what it calls an Obsidian Panel, designed to improve color reproduction and reduce haloing around bright objects against darker backgrounds.
At its native 3840 × 2160 resolution, the monitor can run at 160Hz, making it suitable for games where sharper image quality and high refresh rates are both important. For competitive gaming, users can switch to 1920 × 1080 resolution and increase the refresh rate to 320Hz. The lower resolution reduces the rendering workload and allows compatible systems to take advantage of the faster refresh rate.
Color performance is another part of the M27P6S specification. KTC lists 99% DCI-P3 coverage, targeting users who want a display for both gaming and content creation. The HDR1400 support is paired with the Mini LED backlight to provide brighter highlights and more precise control over different areas of the screen.
Connectivity includes HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4, along with USB-C offering up to 65W charging. The USB-C connection can be useful for laptop users who want to connect a compatible machine and charge it through the same cable. KTC also includes a full ergonomic stand for adjusting the display to suit different desk setups.
The KTC M27P6S is launching at $499.99, compared with its regular $669.99 price, representing a $170 reduction during the launch promotion.
