Juliet Starling is back with her chainsaw, but this time the zombie hunter is stepping into a much larger world. Dragami Games and Koei Tecmo have announced Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back, a sequel to the 2012 action game that will launch on PlayStation 5 in 2027. A specific release date has not been announced yet.
The announcement arrives during Tokyo Game Show 2026, where Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back is already playable as a demo. The event is taking place at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, from September 17 to September 21. Players who cannot attend the show can also get an early look at the sequel through newly released demo gameplay footage.
The sequel brings back Juliet as its main character, with Dragami Games describing her as stronger than before and giving her a new outfit. However, the game moves away from the high-school setting of the original. Juliet will now explore a rebuilt San Romero, which has been transformed into Jaredwood, a sprawling metropolis centered around the film industry.
The story revolves around a mysterious director who traps Juliet inside a twisted zombie movie. She must fight alongside her allies, investigate the conspiracy behind the events, and deal with a new type of enemy known as the Corrupted Realm zombies.
The development team also includes several familiar names. Hajime Tabata, director of Final Fantasy XV, is involved with the project, while Masahiro Yuki, who worked as co-producer on the original Lollipop Chainsaw, has also returned for the sequel.
Alongside the sequel announcement, Dragami Games revealed discounts for Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, the remaster of the original game released in 2024. The game is available at up to 45% off across participating digital storefronts, although the sale end dates vary by platform.
