Anbernic is giving dual-screen handheld gaming another push with the new RG DS Plus, a clamshell console built around two larger high-resolution displays and a built-in stylus. The handheld is now listed on Anbernic’s store for $84.99, putting it in the same price range as several compact retro gaming systems while offering a design focused on games that use two screens.
The RG DS Plus features two 4.3-inch IPS displays, with each panel offering a 1024 × 768 resolution. Both screens use OCA full lamination, while the lower display supports multi-touch input. Anbernic has also included a capacitive stylus, allowing users to interact directly with the touchscreen without having to carry a separate accessory. The clamshell design adds several hardware features intended for portable use. A Hall-effect magnetic switch automatically puts the device into sleep mode when the lid is closed. The hinge can be positioned from 15 to 180 degrees, giving users some flexibility when playing on a desk or holding the system in their hands.
