Keychron is bringing a different approach to the mechanical gaming keyboard market with the V6 Ultra Hybrid, a full-size keyboard that lets users combine traditional mechanical switches and TMR magnetic switches on the same board. The keyboard has now launched on Kickstarter, with campaign pricing starting at $149 for early backers.

The Keychron V6 Ultra Hybrid is built around a hybrid switch system that supports both MX-style mechanical switches and compatible TMR magnetic switches. That means users can keep conventional switches for regular typing while adding magnetic switches to gaming-focused keys such as WASD. The magnetic switches support adjustable actuation between 0.1mm and 3.5mm, along with Rapid Trigger, SOCD, DKS, and controller-emulation features.
For competitive gaming, the keyboard supports an 8,000Hz polling rate over wired and 2.4GHz wireless connections. It also offers Bluetooth 5.3 with support for connecting up to three devices, giving users several ways to switch between systems.

The V6 Ultra Hybrid uses a gasket-mounted construction, double-shot PBT OSA keycaps, and a 4,000mAh battery. Keychron also uses ZMK firmware and its Launcher software for configuration and key remapping.

The Kickstarter campaign offers several configurations, including versions with Ultra-Fast Lime linear, Banana tactile, and Lime Silent Red magnetic switches. Pricing varies depending on the configuration and included accessories.
