Sennheiser has launched the Momentum True Wireless 5, and the new flagship earbuds bring a feature that could matter more than another minor audio upgrade: replaceable batteries. Instead of throwing away the earbuds or charging case when their batteries eventually wear out, users can replace the cells themselves with a small screwdriver. Both the earbuds and charging case support battery replacement, giving the $299.95 Momentum True Wireless 5 a longer potential service life.
The new Sennheiser earbuds also bring several upgrades for audio and connectivity. The Momentum True Wireless 5 support Dolby Atmos with head tracking, aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless, along with high-resolution playback up to 24-bit/96kHz. Bluetooth 6.0 is included with multipoint connectivity, while Sennheiser has added a Robust mode designed to maintain a connection in areas with heavy wireless interference.
Sennheiser has also worked on the fit and noise cancellation system. The Momentum True Wireless 5 uses a new finless design and redesigned ear tips, while Adaptive Hybrid ANC adjusts noise reduction according to the surrounding environment. The earbuds carry an IP54 rating for protection against dust and splashes, making them suitable for everyday commuting and outdoor use.
Battery life reaches 12 hours from the earbuds, while the charging case pushes total playback time to 40 hours. An eight-minute quick charge provides up to one hour of listening, and the case supports Qi wireless charging. The case itself has also been redesigned with a slimmer shape that should be easier to carry in a pocket.
The Momentum True Wireless 5 are priced at $299.95 and will begin shipping on September 3, 2026. Sennheiser will offer the earbuds in Graphite, Cream, Copper, Denim, and Lavender finishes.

For buyers spending around $300 on premium wireless earbuds, the replaceable battery system may be the most interesting part of the new model. Sound quality, ANC, spatial audio, and Bluetooth 6.0 are expected in this price range, but being able to replace worn batteries could make the Momentum True Wireless 5 a more practical long-term purchase than many sealed wireless earbuds.
