Bose has officially announced the QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen), bringing a refreshed design, improved noise cancellation, Bose Immersive Audio, and expanded USB-C functionality to its popular wireless headphone lineup. The new model keeps the comfort-focused design associated with the QuietComfort range while adding several features previously reserved for Bose’s higher-end QuietComfort Ultra series.
The Bose QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) will be available for $359, with preorders opening August 8 through Bose.com and select retailers. Shipping is scheduled to begin August 13. Buyers can choose from Black and White Smoke, along with three limited-edition finishes: Eucalyptus Green, Dewdrop Mint, and Rosewood Mauve.
The major audio update is Bose TrueSpatial Technology, which enables three Immersive Audio modes: Still, Motion, and Cinema. Still Mode keeps the virtual soundstage fixed while the listener moves their head, while Motion Mode adjusts the sound position with head movement. Cinema Mode is designed for movies, videos, and podcasts, creating a wider presentation while keeping dialogue centered.
Bose has also made changes to the active noise cancellation system, now referred to as QuietControl. The headphones use adaptive feedforward controls and a six-microphone system to better handle gaps around the earcups. This is particularly useful for people who wear glasses, hats, or have hair that can affect the seal around the ears.
The updated QuietComfort Headphones also receive a redesigned headband with softer synthetic leather cushioning and smoother adjustment sliders. Bose has adjusted the clamping force and introduced oval-shaped earcups to create a more modern profile while maintaining the comfort expected from the QuietComfort series.
Battery life reaches up to 24 hours for regular listening, while Immersive Audio reduces it to 18 hours. The headphones can also be charged while in use, which allows playback to continue when connected to power.
