Huawei has introduced its latest MateBook Pro laptop in China, featuring the company’s own processor, operating system, and connected ecosystem. The new Laptop continues Huawei’s push toward developing more in-house computing products while combining custom hardware with HarmonyOS. The MateBook Pro starts at 9,999 RMB (around $1,480) for the base configuration, which includes 24GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. The higher-end variant with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD is priced at 13,999 RMB (approximately $2,072).
The laptop is powered by Huawei’s new Kirin X90 Plus processor, replacing the previous Kirin X90. While Huawei has not released full details about the chip, early information suggests it maintains a 10-core, 20-thread architecture. The company has also upgraded the cooling system with a foam-copper vapor chamber, allowing the processor to operate within a 40W performance range.
The improved thermal design could help the chip maintain higher performance during longer workloads, although official benchmarks will be needed to compare it against previous-generation hardware and competing laptop processors. The new MateBook Pro comes with a 14.2-inch OLED touchscreen display designed for productivity and multimedia use. The panel offers a 3120 × 2080 resolution, a 3:2 aspect ratio, and a 120Hz refresh rate.
Huawei has also rated the display for up to 1,000 nits peak brightness, making it suitable for users who work with visual content or use the laptop in brighter environments.
Battery life is handled by a 70Wh battery, with Huawei claiming up to 10.2 hours of office usage. When the battery runs low, the laptop supports 140W fast charging. It can also provide 66W reverse charging for compatible smartphones and other devices. The MateBook Pro features a slim chassis with three USB-C ports. However, only one port supports DisplayPort 1.2 video output, while Huawei has not yet revealed the complete connectivity details.
The laptop is currently available for preorder in China, with official sales scheduled to begin on August 14. Huawei has not confirmed whether the MateBook Pro will launch in international markets.
