Battlefield 6 Season 4 Revealed With Top Gun Collaboration and Naval Warfare

Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios have officially revealed the first details of Battlefield 6 Season 4, confirming what the developers describe as the Game’s biggest seasonal update since launch. The new season introduces large-scale naval combat, the return of Wake Island, a collaboration with Top Gun, and several gameplay features that expand Battlefield’s air, sea, and ground warfare. The content will be released across three phases beginning on July 21, with additional updates arriving in August and September.

The first phase, called Pacific Front, introduces Tsuru Reef, the largest map created for Battlefield 6. Set across a massive Pacific battlefield, the map includes open sea, aircraft carriers with operational flight decks, and wide aerial combat spaces. Battlefield Studios is also introducing a new Dynamic Wave System that changes how naval battles play out by affecting boat movement, player aim, and visibility. Waves can also be used as cover, creating new opportunities for flanking enemy positions and changing the pace of firefights on the water.

Season 4 includes a collaboration with Top Gun, launching on August 18. The crossover adds two iconic military aircraft to the game: the F/A-18 Super Hornet and the F-14 Tomcat. Players can also play as Lt. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw, Lt. Robert “Bob” Floyd, and Adm. Solomon “Warlock” Bates. All three characters feature voice performances from Miles Teller, Lewis Pullman, and Charles Parnell, who portrayed them in the films. The collaboration also introduces Top Gun-themed character skins and other cosmetic items.

Season 4 also introduces Carrier Strike, a new multiplayer mode that combines naval, air, and ground combat into a single objective-based battle. Teams will work together to destroy the opposing aircraft carrier while defending their own, creating battles that make full use of Battlefield’s combined-arms gameplay. Battlefield Studios says the mode was designed to capture the scale of Battlefield while bringing elements inspired by Top Gun’s aerial action.

Battlefield REDSEC will receive new content alongside the Battlefield 6 update. Players can take on Gauntlet, a new jets-only mission set on a redesigned version of Tsuru Reef. The mode focuses entirely on aerial combat, allowing pilots to compete against one another in high-speed dogfights.

The second phase of Season 4 also marks the return of Wake Island, one of the most recognizable maps in Battlefield history. The classic battlefield has been updated for Battlefield 6 while supporting the game’s new naval warfare systems and larger combat scale. The final phase, titled Tidal Strike, arrives on September 15 and includes a collection event featuring naval-themed contracts and challenges that reward players with new in-game items.
