Team17 has officially joined forces with The Breach Studios to publish Westlanders, the upcoming open-world survival adventure set in the 19th-century American frontier. Alongside the publishing announcement, the developer confirmed that the game’s Early Access launch has been pushed back to 2027, moving away from its previously announced 2026 release window.
The project initially began its journey with Radical Theory serving as the game’s marketing partner. With Team17 now taking over publishing responsibilities, the studio believes the partnership will help bring the ambitious survival title to a wider audience as development continues toward launch.
The Breach Studios CEO, Ferran Punti, welcomed the agreement, describing Team17 as the ideal partner for the project. Punti also thanked Radical Theory for its support throughout the last eight months, noting that the game’s current progress would not have been possible without its contribution during the early stages of development.
Westlanders places players in a harsh and unpredictable Wild West setting where survival is the primary objective. Players begin their journey with little more than a wagon, which acts as a mobile base while traveling across the frontier. As resources become available, players can gradually transition from a nomadic lifestyle to establishing a permanent settlement.

According to Team17 General Manager Harley Homewood, the publisher was immediately drawn to the game’s approach to the survival-crafting genre. He praised the world created by The Breach Studios, highlighting its mix of beauty and danger that players will encounter throughout their journey.
The development team currently expects Westlanders to remain in Early Access for approximately one year. Following that period, the game is planned to receive its full 1.0 release, which is also expected to mark its arrival on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
While the delay means players will have to wait longer than originally expected, the new partnership with Team17 provides additional support as The Breach Studios continues work on its ambitious Wild West survival experience.
