Liquid Swords Samson Launches April 8, Built on Unreal Engine 5 with Open-World Action

Liquid Swords has officially announced that its story-driven third-person action adventure, Samson, will release on April 8. The studio shared the launch date alongside a new trailer, offering a closer look at the game’s setting, combat systems, and narrative focus. With its mix of open-world exploration and character-driven storytelling, Samson is shaping up to be one of the notable action releases of the season.

In Samson, players step into a city shaped by conflict, history, and personal loss. The story revolves around discovering what broke Samson’s family and whether those wounds can be repaired before time runs out. The narrative appears to play a central role in the overall experience, blending character development with open-world progression. Players will explore hostile blocks, hidden areas, and locations tied directly to Samson’s past. The developers state that the city will evolve over time, with factions, streets, and even familiar faces changing depending on player actions and status.

Gameplay combines close-quarters brawling with vehicle-based combat. Players can build strength in hand-to-hand encounters while also engaging in weaponized driving across the city. Momentum and environmental awareness are key, as terrain and improvised tools can be used to gain the upper hand in fights. Vehicles are not limited to transportation; they can be turned into offensive tools during high-speed pursuits. Chases may escalate into collisions, traps, and destructive encounters in tight urban spaces.

From a technical perspective, Samson is being developed using Unreal Engine 5. Liquid Swords has confirmed support for Nanite, Lumen, and Virtual Shadow Maps, technologies that enable detailed geometry, dynamic global illumination, and advanced shadow rendering. While these features promise a visually rich experience, they may also result in demanding hardware requirements on PC, especially at higher graphics settings.

At the time of writing, official PC system requirements have not been revealed. Given the confirmed use of Unreal Engine 5’s advanced rendering systems, PC players will likely need modern hardware to run the game at its highest presets. We will provide updates as soon as Liquid Swords shares more information regarding system requirements and additional gameplay details ahead of the April 8 launch.
