Ubisoft has confirmed that several new entries in the Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry franchises are currently in development. Speaking to Variety, Yves Guillemot outlined the company’s upcoming plans while also addressing its ongoing restructuring efforts.
According to Guillemot, Ubisoft has multiple Assassin’s Creed titles in production, covering both single-player and multiplayer experiences. The publisher aims to continue expanding the franchise’s global audience, which surpassed 30 million players over the past year. While Guillemot did not share specific project names or release windows, reports suggest that a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is among the projects in development, with a potential launch targeted for 2026.
In addition to Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft is working on two separate Far Cry projects. Guillemot did not provide details on their settings, gameplay direction, or release timing. The most recent mainline entry, Far Cry 6, launched in 2021, and the series remains one of Ubisoft’s core properties. The confirmation of two new titles signals continued investment in the franchise despite the company’s broader internal changes.

These announcements arrive during a period of significant restructuring at Ubisoft. The company recently confirmed layoffs at its Toronto studio as part of a larger cost-reduction initiative designed to save €200 million over five years. Reports indicate that up to 18% of Ubisoft’s workforce could be impacted. As part of the restructuring plan, Ubisoft has divided its development operations into five creative houses, each responsible for a select group of intellectual properties.
Guillemot attributed the company’s financial pressure to rapid expansion during the COVID-19 period, followed by slower growth in player spending than initially projected. He stated that Ubisoft’s current priority is to become more focused and agile, with stronger development teams capable of delivering consistent releases.
Recent years have seen several Ubisoft projects delayed or canceled, including the remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. As a result, while new Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry titles are confirmed, their timelines remain subject to change.
For now, Ubisoft’s roadmap indicates a renewed emphasis on its established franchises. With multiple Assassin’s Creed games spanning different formats and two Far Cry projects underway, the publisher appears intent on stabilizing its portfolio while navigating a challenging transition period.
