Remedy Reveals CONTROL Resonant Gameplay at PlayStation State of Play, Launch Set for 2026

At the latest PlayStation State of Play event, Remedy Entertainment presented the first extended gameplay footage of CONTROL Resonant, the sequel to its 2019 title Control. The demo was captured on the PlayStation 5 Pro and offered a closer look at the new direction for the series, including its setting, combat systems, and progression mechanics.

The sequel places players in the role of Dylan Faden, who hunts a powerful Resonant enemy within the West Incursion Zone, a distorted section of Manhattan reshaped by forces that are breaking reality apart. The environment appears more open than the shifting halls of the Federal Bureau of Control seen in the previous game. Remedy is building the sequel around large, interconnected zones that include optional activities, hidden encounters, and side objectives designed to encourage exploration.

A major gameplay focus is the use of Gravity Anomalies. These areas alter orientation and physics, allowing Dylan to move across walls and ceilings while engaging enemies in spaces where gravity constantly shifts. The mechanic affects both traversal and combat, adding layers of challenge to encounters.

Dylan’s primary weapon, known as the Aberrant, is a shapeshifting melee tool that transforms into multiple forms. Remedy confirmed that players will unlock additional forms, abilities, and talents as they progress. This system is tied to boss encounters called Resonants—corrupted remnants of powerful individuals influenced by the same force threatening the world. Defeating them expands Dylan’s supernatural abilities and unlocks new combat options.

CONTROL Resonant will be published by Remedy Entertainment, with Annapurna Pictures co-financing and co-producing the project under a strategic partnership.

The game is scheduled for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and Mac via Steam and the App Store. More gameplay details are available in a developer post shared on the official PlayStation Blog.
