Sony Announces Hyperpop Collection With New DualSense Controllers and PS5 Console Covers

Sony Interactive Entertainment has officially revealed the Hyperpop Collection, a new lineup of DualSense wireless controllers and PlayStation 5 console covers designed to bring bold color treatments to the PS5 ecosystem. The announcement offers an early look at three distinct designs that blend dark base tones with bright neon accents, reflecting the visual style commonly associated with modern gaming setups.

The Hyperpop Collection introduces three design options named Techno, Remix, and Rhythm. Each version features a glossy black foundation that gradually transitions into vivid neon colors. Sony states that the aim is to offer players more visual choice while maintaining a consistent design language across controllers and console covers. The same gradient effect used on the DualSense controllers continues onto the PS5 console covers, creating a unified appearance when paired together.

Members of Sony’s Color, Material, and Finish design team shared insight into the creative process behind the collection. Leo Cardoso explained that the designs were inspired by RGB lighting and the visual atmosphere created by gaming hardware setups. According to Cardoso, the goal was to produce colors that feel energetic and visually dominant in a gaming space. Sae Kobayashi added that the seamless gradient wraps around both the front and back of the DualSense controller, finished with a high-gloss coating to enhance color depth. The PS5 console covers follow the same approach, with a slight transparent element to add visual texture without changing the console’s form.

Sony has confirmed pricing details across major regions. The Hyperpop DualSense wireless controllers will retail for $84.99 in the United States, €84.99 in Europe, £74.99 in the United Kingdom, and ¥12,480 in Japan, including tax. The matching PS5 console covers will be available in limited quantities in select markets, priced at $74.99, €74.99, £64.99, and ¥11,480, depending on region.

The Hyperpop Collection is scheduled to launch starting March 12, 2026. Pre-orders will open on January 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. local time through direct.playstation.com, where available, along with participating retail partners. Sony notes that availability and release timing may vary by country and region.

Isabelle Tomatis, Vice President of Global Marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment, stated that the Hyperpop Collection is intended for players looking to add a more expressive visual style to their PlayStation hardware while keeping the familiar design and functionality of existing accessories.
