ACEMAGIC has officially launched the Retro X5 mini PC, expanding its compact Mini PC lineup with a system that combines modern AMD hardware and a retro-inspired exterior. The design of the Retro X5 draws clear inspiration from the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) of the 1980s, aiming to appeal to users interested in classic gaming aesthetics while offering current-generation performance.
The Retro X5 is powered by AMD’s Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor. This chip features 12 cores and 24 threads, with boost clock speeds reaching up to 5.1GHz. The processor is designed to handle a wide range of tasks, including multitasking, light content creation, and gaming workloads. Integrated graphics are provided by the Radeon 890M GPU, which includes 16 compute units and operates at frequencies of up to 2900MHz, making it suitable for both modern applications and emulation-based gaming.
In addition to CPU and GPU performance, the system includes AMD’s XDNA 2 neural processing engine. According to ACEMAGIC, this AI engine can deliver up to 50 TOPS of computing power, enabling support for AI-accelerated tasks. While current use cases may be limited, the company has indicated plans to expand AI-related features through future software updates.
On the software side, the Retro X5 ships with the RetroPlay Box interface. This platform integrates emulators, game scrapers, and related tools required for running retro games, reducing the setup time typically associated with emulation. ACEMAGIC has also confirmed that upcoming updates will introduce AI-based content recommendations and interactive features aimed at improving the overall gaming experience.
From a hardware perspective, the Retro X5 supports memory and storage upgrades, allowing users to tailor the system to their needs. It also supports multi-monitor output, making it suitable for productivity setups beyond gaming. The front panel includes a USB Type-C port, two USB Type-A ports, and a 3.5mm audio jack. However, ACEMAGIC has not yet released full details regarding the complete I/O layout on the rear of the system.
