Ubisoft has released a new update for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, delivering two widely requested features: a third-person camera option and New Game+. The update is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through the Ubisoft Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
The addition of third-person gameplay marks a significant shift for players, offering a new way to explore the Western Frontier of Pandora. While the game still loads in first-person by default, players can switch to third-person at any time by holding a dedicated button. The transition between perspectives is seamless, allowing players to choose the view that best fits different activities, from traversal to combat.
To support the new camera option, Massive Entertainment reworked various systems, including character animations, aiming behavior, movement transitions, and camera stability. These adjustments were made to maintain consistency across environments and interactions while giving players a clear view of their character and equipped cosmetics.
The third-person update follows a series of quality-of-life improvements the game has received since launch. Previous updates included improvements to the Hunter’s Guide, enabling players to mark favored items and use filters to locate undiscovered resources during exploration. Combat pacing has also been adjusted, and additional performance settings, such as a refined 40 FPS mode, were introduced to improve overall gameplay smoothness.
New Game+ Added for Replay Value
The update’s second major feature, New Game+, allows players to restart the story while keeping their inventory, gear, and unlocked skills. The mode increases difficulty by introducing tougher enemies, encouraging players to rely on upgraded equipment and new strategies. A new skill tree becomes available in New Game+, offering additional progression options as players advance through the story a second time.

Another benefit of the mode is that the full map is revealed from the start, giving returning players immediate access to all regions of Pandora. New Game+ becomes available only after completing the main campaign and does not apply to the Sky Breaker or Secrets of the Spires story expansions.
From the Ashes Expansion Arrives December 19
Ubisoft also announced that the From the Ashes expansion will launch on December 19, coinciding with the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash in theaters. The expansion takes place after the main story and follows So’lek, who awakens in the Ravaged Kinglor Forest to find his allies missing. He must confront the Ash clan and RDA forces in a new conflict that expands on the game’s narrative.

Players will be able to experience the expansion in either first-person or third-person, as the newly added camera option applies to the upcoming content as well. From the Ashes is available for pre-order across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms.
With these updates, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora continues to evolve, offering returning players fresh ways to experience the world of Pandora while preparing for the next major chapter in its story.
