Ubisoft has confirmed that Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will receive a major expansion titled From the Ashes, scheduled for release on December 19, 2025. The expansion will launch on all platforms the same day James Cameron’s next film, Avatar: Fire and Ash, premieres in theaters.
The expansion revisits the western frontier of Pandora, introducing a darker narrative centered on So’lek, a Sarentu Na’vi warrior. Following an ambush orchestrated by the Ash clan in alliance with the RDA, So’lek embarks on a mission of revenge while attempting to protect his family. Ubisoft describes the expansion as a story-driven continuation that builds upon the foundation of the base game while adding new layers of tension and conflict.
In preparation for the expansion, Frontiers of Pandora will receive a third-person mode update on December 5, 2025. This feature will allow players to switch perspectives between first- and third-person views, providing more flexibility in combat and exploration. The expansion will also introduce new combat mechanics aimed at creating a more dynamic and tactical experience.
Omar Bouali, creative director at Massive Entertainment, stated that From the Ashes is designed to deliver a more personal story while expanding gameplay possibilities through the combined use of first- and third-person modes.
Josua Izzo, executive vice president of franchise development at Lightstorm Entertainment, highlighted the connection between the expansion and the upcoming film. He noted that both explore the Ash People, a faction central to the new storyline.
Luigi Priore, vice president and general manager of Disney and Pixar Games, emphasized that the expansion continues So’lek’s journey while reflecting Disney’s commitment to building original stories within the Avatar universe.
From the Ashes will be available as a standalone expansion priced at $24.99 USD. Ubisoft will also offer a bundled edition that includes both the base game and the expansion for $39.99 USD.
By aligning the expansion’s launch with the theatrical release of Avatar: Fire and Ash, Ubisoft and its partners aim to connect the interactive and cinematic experiences of the franchise. Players will be able to explore new stories in the game while audiences discover the latest chapter of Pandora’s saga on the big screen.
