The Rogue Prince of Persia Shadow-Drops on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S with Xbox Game Pass

Ubisoft and Evil Empire have launched The Rogue Prince of Persia on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S today, revealed during the Xbox Gamescom 2025 showcase. The game is also available immediately on Xbox Game Pass, giving subscribers the chance to play the full version without an extra purchase. Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 versions are planned for release later this year.

Although the console release was presented as a surprise, Ubisoft had already provided a launch window of August 2025 when confirming the game’s 1.0 release earlier this year. Today’s announcement aligns with that timeline, bringing the roguelite action title out of its Early Access phase and onto multiple platforms.

The Rogue Prince of Persia first entered Early Access on PC in May 2024. Over the past year, developer Evil Empire has added new content, refined gameplay systems, and improved balance in response to community feedback. The full release now includes expanded levels, more enemies, additional weapons, and updated mechanics designed to provide a more complete experience.

Evil Empire, the studio behind the acclaimed Dead Cells, brings its expertise in fast-paced 2D action to Ubisoft’s classic franchise. The result is a roguelite that emphasizes fluid combat, parkour-inspired movement, and replayability. Fans of the genre will find a familiar structure of procedurally generated runs, challenging encounters, and permanent upgrades to support long-term progression.

Launching directly on Xbox Game Pass ensures the game will reach a wider audience from day one. Subscribers can explore the game immediately on Xbox Series X/S or PC, while PlayStation 5 players can access it as a standard release. With upcoming versions planned for both Switch platforms, Ubisoft is positioning the title for broad accessibility across current hardware.

The Gamescom 2025 announcement marks a major milestone for The Rogue Prince of Persia, completing its transition from Early Access to a fully launched multiplatform title.
