Capcom Unveils Resident Evil: Requiem, Launching February 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC

Capcom has officially announced the next major installment in its long-running survival horror series. Titled Resident Evil: Requiem, this new entry is scheduled to release on February 27, 2026, and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (Steam). The announcement was accompanied by a cinematic in-engine trailer that offers a first look at the game’s tone and visual direction.

Built on the RE Engine, which has powered several of Capcom’s recent titles, including Resident Evil Village and Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil: Requiem aims to deliver high-fidelity visuals and detailed environments. Although the trailer does not show gameplay, the in-engine footage sets the mood with dark, atmospheric scenes and a foreboding narrative tone.

Players will take on the role of Grace Ashcroft, a new protagonist in the franchise. According to Capcom, Requiem is a single-player experience focused on survival and psychological horror. The story follows Grace as she navigates a dangerous and mysterious environment, relying on limited resources and her wits to survive. Details about the plot remain limited, but the game appears to continue the series’ trend of exploring isolated locations filled with tension, puzzles, and hostile enemies.

Capcom states that the development team is leveraging new technology and their experience from previous titles to enhance immersion and storytelling. The studio promises a strong narrative focus, with more dynamic character development and refined gameplay systems that are designed to keep players engaged throughout the campaign.

The trailer itself is largely cinematic, offering a glimpse into the kind of visual fidelity Capcom is targeting. While it does not provide a look at gameplay mechanics or combat, the visuals suggest a return to the series’ darker roots, with environments that resemble gothic architecture and desolate landscapes. The tone is reminiscent of earlier titles in the franchise, leaning more into horror than action.

Resident Evil: Requiem marks the ninth mainline title in the franchise, which began in 1996. Over the years, Resident Evil has evolved from fixed-camera survival horror to more action-oriented gameplay and recently back toward horror-focused experiences. With Requiem, Capcom seems to be continuing that shift, emphasizing suspense, exploration, and storytelling.

More details, including gameplay footage and storyline information, are expected to be revealed in the coming months. For now, fans of the series can mark their calendars for February 27, 2026, when Resident Evil: Requiem makes its debut on current-generation platforms.
