Xiaomi Introduces REDMI Pad 2 Pro With 12.1-Inch 120Hz Display, Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, and 12,000mAh Battery

Xiaomi has officially expanded its tablet portfolio with the launch of the REDMI Pad 2 Pro. The new tablet targets users looking for a large display, long battery life, and modern connectivity features, positioning it in the upper mid-range segment of the Android tablet market. The device brings several hardware upgrades compared to earlier REDMI Pad models, including a higher refresh rate display and a larger battery.

The REDMI Pad 2 Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor, manufactured on a 4nm process. The chipset features a single Cortex-A720 prime core clocked at 2.7GHz, accompanied by three additional Cortex-A720 performance cores running at 2.4GHz, along with four Cortex-A520 efficiency cores for lighter workloads. Xiaomi pairs this platform with either 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X memory, while storage options include 128GB and 256GB configurations based on UFS 2.2. On paper, this hardware setup is designed to deliver smooth everyday performance, making it suitable for routine multitasking, streaming content, and general productivity use without pushing into flagship territory.

The tablet features a 12.1-inch LCD screen with a 2.5K resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio. It supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, making scrolling and animations smoother. The display delivers 500 nits of typical brightness and can reach 600 nits in high brightness mode. It also supports 10-bit color depth and Dolby Vision. TÜV low blue light certification is included, and Xiaomi is offering an optional soft-light display version designed to reduce glare. Support for accessories such as keyboards and styluses is also included.

Battery capacity is another key area of focus. The REDMI Pad 2 Pro packs a 12,000mAh battery, with Xiaomi claiming a standby time of up to 83.05 days. Charging is handled via a USB Type-C port with 33W wired fast charging support. The tablet also supports 27W wired reverse charging, allowing it to charge other devices when needed.

On the audio side, the device includes a quad-speaker system with Dolby Atmos support. Software-wise, the tablet runs Xiaomi’s Surge OS 2, which adds features such as cross-device calling, shared desktop functionality, and synchronized hotspots across compatible Xiaomi devices.

In Hong Kong, pricing for the REDMI Pad 2 Pro starts at HKD 1,699 (around USD 218) for the 6GB + 128GB model. The 8GB + 256GB version is priced at HKD 1,999 (approximately USD 256), while the 8GB + 256GB Soft Light Edition costs HKD 2,199 (around USD 282). Xiaomi has not yet announced availability details for other markets.
