XGIMI has announced its latest lineup of high-end home projectors with the launch of the RS 20 series in China. This new series includes four models—RS 20 Plus, RS 20 Pro Max, RS 20 Ultra, and RS 20 Ultra Max. All models in the RS 20 family come equipped with native 4K resolution, tri-laser light engines, wide color gamut support, and features aimed at both home cinema and gaming users.
RS 20 Ultra Max: Top-Tier Specs and Features
Leading the lineup is the RS 20 Ultra Max, a feature-rich projector with a native 3840×2160 resolution. It is powered by MediaTek’s MT9681 chip and Mali-G57 GPU and is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The projector uses a custom-engineered “X Master” lens that supports 1.2–1.5:1 optical zoom and wide lens shift ranges of ±120% vertically and ±45% horizontally.
Brightness reaches 4500 CVIA lumens (approximately 5700 ISO lumens), with a contrast ratio rated at 10000:1. The light engine includes 40 laser emitters built on the Qualas 32 architecture and supports high dynamic range formats such as Dolby Vision, HDR Vivid, and IMAX Enhanced. The unit also features motorized pan and tilt, automatic keystone correction, and AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It operates at 28dB noise levels and weighs 5.4kg, finished in a neutral Etoupe grey color.

XGIMI RS 20 Ultra: High-End Performance with Balanced Specs
The XGIMI RS 20 Ultra shares several core components with the Ultra Max model but makes slight adjustments to its hardware. It runs on the same MT9681 processor but with 4GB of RAM and the same 128GB storage. Brightness is slightly lower at 4100 CVIA lumens (4800 ISO), and the projector utilizes 36 laser emitters through the Qualas 22 light engine.
The optical system remains consistent, featuring a nine-element coated glass lens and extensive lens shift capabilities. The RS 20 Ultra supports Rec.709, DCI-P3, BT.2020, and Adobe RGB color profiles with Delta E accuracy of under 0.8. For enthusiasts working with color-critical content, the projector includes a Da Vinci color mode and 22-point calibration. It also supports 240Hz at 1080p and 60Hz at 4K, with low-latency modes including VRR and ALLM.
XGIMI RS 20 Pro Max: Calibrated 4K with Enhanced Image Processing
One step below the Ultra series is the XGIMI RS 20 Pro Max. This model still offers native 4K resolution and is powered by the same MT9681 chip. It incorporates the 8445 image driver and a 472TP DMD chip to enhance image quality. Brightness is rated at 3100 CVIA lumens (3800 ISO), and it retains the 10000:1 contrast ratio.

Color and HDR support is maintained with Dolby Vision, HDR Vivid, and IMAX Enhanced. A key feature of this model is LUT (Look-Up Table) support for professionals needing precise color management. It also includes the X-VUE 3.0 processing engine with AI-powered enhancements. Audio is delivered by dual Harman Kardon speakers with surround capabilities. Gaming features like 1ms latency, VRR, and ALLM are also supported.
XGIMI RS 20 Plus: Entry-Level 4K Laser Model with Gaming Features
The most affordable option in the series is the XGIMI RS 20 Plus. While it is positioned as an entry-level model, it still provides native 4K output and shares many of the key specifications of its higher-end siblings. It runs on the same MT9681 platform with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

The projector uses an 18-laser light engine that delivers 2300 CVIA lumens (3000 ISO) and supports Rec.709, DCI-P3, and BT.2020 color standards with Delta E<0.8. It includes the X Master lens with optical zoom and wide lens shift, and image enhancements are handled through the X-VUE 3.0 engine. Gaming is supported with 240Hz refresh at 1080p and 1ms input lag. The device comes in a “Little Elephant Grey” finish and weighs 4.8kg.
Pricing and Availability
The XGIMI RS 20 Plus is priced at 6,699 yuan (around $925), while the RS 20 Pro Max is set at 9,199 yuan ($1,270). The RS 20 Ultra is available for 11,399 yuan ($1,570), and the flagship RS 20 Ultra Max costs 13,399 yuan ($1,850). All models are currently on sale in China, with global availability expected later in the year.
In addition to the RS 20 lineup, XGIMI recently introduced the compact Z6X Pro model, featuring a tri-color laser light source rated at 910 CVIA lumens, a HiSilicon processor, and Harman-tuned audio. This smaller model targets portable use while still supporting key imaging features.
