Wooting 60HE v2 Keyboard Brings Modular Design, Aluminium Case, and Split Space Bar Support

Wooting has revealed more information about its upcoming 60HE v2, the successor to its popular 60HE Hall effect gaming keyboard. In a recent Q&A session, CEO Calder Limmen confirmed several important details about the design, compatibility, and product roadmap for the new model.

The 60HE v2 will be offered as a standalone module, continuing the modular design introduced with the first-generation 60HE. It ships with a foam pad to support both friction-fit and tray-mount configurations, giving users flexibility in their preferred mounting style. The module also maintains backward compatibility with the original 60HE stock plastic case and popular community options such as the Tofu60 Redux, GT60, and the Wooting x Optimum case.

Limmen also addressed the future of the product lineup. The 60HE v2 will eventually replace the original 60HE as Wooting’s only 60% keyboard option. At launch, however, both versions will be available side by side, which suggests that the v2 may carry a higher price point than the v1. To give buyers more options, the 60HE v2 will be offered with both an aluminium and a plastic case, although the plastic version may not be ready at launch.

The 60HE v2 includes support for split space bars. According to Limmen, this requires separate PCBs to accommodate either the traditional long space bar or the split configuration. For current Wooting owners, the company is preparing potential perks as part of the launch campaign to make upgrading more convenient.

The keyboard will introduce several improvements over the original model, including a friction-fit aluminium case, the new Lekker Tikken switches, and an 8 kHz polling rate. Despite earlier development delays related to coating issues, Wooting stated that the release schedule remains unchanged.

The Wooting 60HE v2 is expected to refine the company’s 60% gaming keyboard lineup while maintaining compatibility with existing accessories and offering new customization features for enthusiasts.
